Discovery II

Discovery II offers a variety of groups, classes, workshops and retreats that support ordinary people as they explore and live out their sense of calling in life. It invites participants into a new understanding of vocation, one that is affirming of God's unique call on each of us to share the love and grace of Christ in the ministry of the church and the life of the world.

Through the Discovery II offerings, we explore, often within small group environments, our authentic vocations, the faces of Christ that each of us is gifted and called to distinctively reveal. We support each other within these settings to discover this genuine personhood in Christ and to realize it in the every day living of our lives. The expression of our faith through the gifts and callings we are given is at the very heart of Advent's mission of "changed lives, changing lives through Christ's love.” Each person who has been touched by the love of Christ is encouraged to share this grace with others as only they can.

Through Discovery II, we explore the ways that our faith is manifest in the fabric of our lives and listen together with others for the direction of the Spirit and the gifts that we are given for sharing the love of Christ within this fabric. In addition to our gifts we consider our personalities, our abilities and talents, our life experiences including our woundedness, our relationships and more, to discern how these threads of our life are woven together to reveal who we in Christ. These offerings provide a supportive and encouraging environment for the living out of our faith with the gifts and calling we are given

A Group
for those discerning a new vocation or whose daily work is in transition

Meets Wednesdays at 3:00 PM in the BerklandLibrary

Advent has formed a supportive group for people who for a variety of reasons are in the process of discerning, seeking or beginning a new vocation or daily work in the midst of these tumultuous economic times.
As a faith community, more than traditional vocational assistance and networking, this group engages in prayerful discernment and spiritual companionship, sharing stories with one another while listening within them for God's presence and guidance.

It is a grace to share the journey with others and especially so during the sometimes trying times of transition. Together this is an encouraging community.  It is a way to support one another to find peace and comfort in knowing that God is with us and to trust in God's lead.

All are welcome to join in at any time. The group meets in the library at 3:00 pm on Wednesdays.  If you know of others who might find this of benefit, please encourage them to join us.
